Welcome to My Personal Page
Those that know me know that Canucks Autism Network has been such a huge part of my life for the past n i n e years. We found CAN while I was searching for resources after my brother's late diagnosis when he was eight years old.
At first, we were terrified to hear of the word Autism. It's a scary word when you have no idea what it means... What it means for your brother and for your family. Will he be well-supported? Will he be accepted amongst his peers?
Joining CAN was one of the best decisions we have ever made as a family. My brother has been so fortunate to participate in a variety of sports and social programs over the years that have helped him learned new skills and grow into the adult he is today. Last year, Eric joined CAN's Explore Volunteering program which helped form an interest in finding job, so now he is enrolled in Kwantlen's Work Exploration program! Eric has also been able to form many friendships and has always been accepted by his peers, staff and volunteers at CAN. We are beyond grateful of the impact CAN has made in not only Eric's, but in all our lives. Because of CAN, we are are no longer afraid of the word Autism. We embrace it.
Will you help me support Canucks Autism Network (CAN)? This August 5-14, I will be participating the first-ever CAN Virtual Challenge!
During the 10-day challenge period, I will be completing various physical, creative and outdoor activities in support of CAN.
Through virtual programs, CAN has continued to provide much-needed support to individuals with autism and their families during this time of physical distancing.
Help me support CAN participants across BC! Together, we can create a future where every individual with autism is understood, accepted and supported in all community spaces.
